We run a state-of the-art real-time data warehouse that enables the business to access near real-time transactional data to support key functional areas of the business.

This is a Data Warehouse development and support role reporting to the Data Warehouse Manager.

The successful candidate will have exceptional technical and problem solving skills with a positive, results driven attitude.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

* Review user requirements and product specifications in order to give development estimates and product feedback
* Ability to apply engineering improvements adhering to, and feeding back into departmental standards
* Provide analysis and design to support new functionality
* Perform thorough unit testing
* Technical documentation that shares knowledge effectively
* Provide support for the day-to-day running of the Data Warehouse
* You will be required to participate in an on-call rota

Person Specification:

Essential:

* 4+ years as a software engineer (PL/SQL)
* Oracle 10g
* 2+ years on a large Data Warehouse > 1TB
* 2+ years experience of working with ETL from highly transactional OLTP systems
* Experience of database performance analysis and design
* Highly Skilled in set based Oracle SQL as well as procedural PL/SQL and performance tuning of Oracle SQL.

Desirable:

* Basic Oracle administration
* Experience of replication technology would be a beneficial
* Experience with Java and/or Perl
* Source code control (SourceSafe, CVS, Perforce ...)
* Experience of MS Analysis services 2005
